STAFFING:

Examiner: T. ROBERTS
Moderator: C. HARMAN

RATIONALE:

The project will involve the completion of an in-depth study of a selected topic. This will enable an advanced level of mathematical skills to be developed.

SYNOPSIS:

The project will consist of review and research into a well defined area of mathematics and its application. Information and ideas will be gathered, created, organised, analysed and discussed in a critical and evaluative manner.

OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to:

  1. demonstrate ability to plan a suitable research/investigation topic;
  2. demonstrate the ability to develop higher mathematical skils;
  3. demonstrate the ability to carry out basic methods of research and inquiry into well-defined areas of mathematics and its applications;
  4. document and communicate the results of the project and the methods used.
