Synopsis

Successful evaluation involves the development of the following skills:
1       Understanding and appreciating the writer's purpose in presenting
        his/her work.
2       Understanding and appreciating the role played by characterization
        (ie the writer's ability to present characters in such a way as to
        achieve his/her purpose in writing).
3       Understanding and appreciating the role played by the form of
        literature chosen by the writer eg drama, short story.
4       Comparing and contrasting works by different writers
        in order to extend knowledge and understanding that
        has already been achieved.
