Synopsis
This unit introduces students to the management of people and the
management of the employment relationship. It combines theory and the
practical application of the theory. Students examine the competitive
environment in which organisations operate, and the challenges to the
management of the employment relationship. Human resource planning is
examined within the organisational and external competitive
environment. The unit translates the human resource plan into the
functions associated with human resource management. Students are
introduced to the acquisition, maintenance and development of the
human resources of an organisation, and the legal environment in which
those functions operate. Students examine the unique challenges of
international human resource management.
