Synopsis

It is assumed that students will come into this unit with a sound
knowledge of normal child development. The overall aim of the unit is
to help students apply this knowledge and develop confidence and
skills to work effectively with children in a clinical setting.
Students are first provided with a general understanding of a range of
personal and professional issues to be considered in working with
children. They will then examine common behaviour problems and
disorders which can occur during childhood. The major focus of the
unit is on assessment and intervention strategies used by the child
psychologist.
