Synopsis


This  introductory study in Microbiology includes a history  of  the  impact  of
microorganisms  on  the well being of mankind and the attempts  to  explain  and
control  these  influences.  Discussed  in  this  course  will  be  the  nature,
nutrition, metabolism and genetics of bacteria, and nature of viruses, fungi and
protozoa.  An  introduction to recombinant DNA technology,  infectious  disease,
immunology  and  Public  Health are also included along with  environmental  and
industrial applications.
