Synopsis

This  unit  is  for  students who have some  background  in  genetics,
biochemistry  and  microbiology. Drawing on this knowledge  base,  the
unit  addresses  the  nature of the cell genome and  control  of  gene
expression.  The  role  of  viral  and  bacterial  systems  in   human
manipulation  of DNA and the uses of recombinant DNA in  biotechnology
and medicine are addressed.
