This unit builds on material in the introductory course, 62220. The unit focuses on integration and control of metabolism in animals, plants and microorganisms. Control of metabolic reactions is considered from the level of individual enzymes, to cells, to integration of metabolism of the whole organism. The practical component includes student-driven projects which include use of current techniques employed in biochemistry and biotechnology.
