Synopsis

This  unit  provides students with a sound knowledge base relating  to
professional   computer  programming.  It  covers  basic   programming
techniques  such  as structured design, functions, input/output,  data
types   and  arithmetic,  strings,  looping,  conditional  statements,
function arguments and results, top-down programming, arrays, and text
files.  Also  the  unit  includes an introduction  to  formal  program
verification methods based on mathematical principles.
