Synopsis

Familiarity  with  electronic devices and circuits is  fundamental  to
electrical  engineers.   This  unit is the  first  in  a  sequence  of
electronic engineering units and requires a basic knowledge of circuit
theory as taught in 70230 Electrical Technology.  The material covered
here will be further developed in both breadth and depth in subsequent
units.    Topics  to  be  covered  will  include  :  simple   discrete
semiconductor  devices,  logic  circuits,  amplifiers,  negative   and
positive  feedback, power supplies, selected integrated  circuits  and
basic communication systems.
