Synopsis

In  this unit students are acquainted with the most recent trends  and
developments   in  special,  remedial  and inclusive education.
Although  topics and emphases will vary from year to year,  particular
attention  will  be given to policy developments in the  education  of
children  with  special  needs  trends  and  issues  in  relation  to
inclusive  schooling  and  to  the  education  of  mildly  handicapped
children,   major  developments  in  the  areas  of   reading   and/or
mathematics  instruction  of  relevance  to  children  with   learning
problems,  and advances in research and knowledge in relation  to  the
teaching  of  children  with  special  needs  will  be  conveyed  when
appropriate.
