Synopsis
The school administrator plays a key role if relationships between the
school and its community are to be mutually beneficial. The assumption
underlying this unit is that the administrator needs a thorough under-
standing of these relationships and skill in developing them. At a
time when schools all over Australia are developing a variety of formal
and informal structures and processes by which community members,
especially parents, are involved in schools and school decision-making,
there exists a great need for school administrators to have a sound
grasp of the issues involved.
In this unit, students will develop an understanding of the complex
relationships between a school and the community which it serves. They
will become aware of a range of administrative processes and skills which
which might link a school with its community for the betterment of
education.
