Pre-requisite: 91510
Intelligent performance of music requires an understanding of a number of important supplementary subject areas. A knowledge of writing techniques employed by composers of different periods in musical history plus an informed acquaintance with major works in the literature of music form the interpretive basis of this supplementary and complementary knowledge. An aural awareness of subtle stylistic nuances and shadings in differing interpretive philosophies is another crucially important component in the making of a musician.
