Synopsis

This unit introduces electronics. Its purpose is to teach some basic
concepts in understanding the use of electronic devices and to develop
certain skills in the construction and testing of circuits. The
knowledge and skills which are most likely to be encountered in a work
situation are given priority so that the students will be able to
investigate the behaviour of a simple circuit in a logical fashion,
using the test equipment most appropriate to the job. They will be
familiar with a range of electronic devices and the parameters which
are important to their operation. Topics covered are operational
amplifiers, voltage regulators, logic gates, diode and transistor
circuits. Applications of these are made to amplifying, switching,
rectifying and regulating functions.
