Overseas students planning to undertake research in their post-graduate degrees need to be aware of the philosophy of western research, so that their own work, and interpretation of others' reseach, is conducted within an acceptable paradigm.
The "philosophy" of research in western scholarship, different types of research in science and social sciences and statistical terms are introduced. A literature survey, an approach to research questions and project plan are undertaken.
