The importance of regular physical activity to the health and well- being of each person is becoming increasingly important as demands are placed on the individual by society. This unit aims to make the student aware of the importance of physical education in the primary school as well as providing a physical perspective on children's learning of basic movement skills.
This unit involves both theoretical and practical components of study. Students will gain an understanding of the primary school physical education curriculum and principles of skill acquisition while participating in practical areas of movement, games, dance and aquatics.

1 Attendance is required at all practical sessions. The final grade
in this unit will be lowered for students missing more than 25%
of the practical classes in any specific activity area without a
medical certificate or approval from the examiner.
2 Assignments submitted after the due date without an approved
extension by the unit examiner will attract a penalty of 5% of
the assigned marks for each working day, or part of a day, that
the assignment is late.
