RATIONALE:

This unit offers students an introduction to some basic principles and practices of theatre craft. Emphasis is placed upon elementary techniques of theatrical production and safety procedures, basic acting, voice and professional skills and an introduction to the theory and practice of performance and theatrical production. CONDITIONS APPLY: Students intending to enrol must consult the Examiner (M. Morrell) to organize theatre subscription / attendance at compulsory performances.


SYNOPSIS:

This unit offers students an introduction to the basic principles and practice of theatre craft. Emphasis is placed upon elementary techniques of theatrical production and safety procedures, basic acting skills and an introduction to the theory and practice of performance and theatrical production.


OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this unit students will be have:

  1. a basic understanding of some principles of contemporary
    theatrical production techniques;
  2. a satisfactory achievement in the application of these
    principles, either in practical or written form;
  3. a knowledge, and satisfactory application, of basic
    performance skills.
