RATIONALE:

The demonstration of movement awareness and learned physical and vocal skills in an audition situation is a requisite of the threshold professional actor.


SYNOPSIS:

This unit seeks to ensure a high exit standard of physical and vocal fitness, flexibility and skills. It also applies a learned movement vocabulary to performance and addresses the continuing development of the performer's voice and speech skills in private sessions and through dialogue coaching for performance, rehearsal and auditions. Microphone technique is addressed. Singing classes continue with a focus on audition presentation techniques.


OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this unit, students will be able
to demonstrate:

  1. a high standard of physical flexibility, fitness and vocal
    expertise in rehearsal, performance and audition situations;
  2. the application of specialist movement skills in performance;
  3. the application of specialist speech skills in performance;
  4. a high standard of vocal expertise in the presentation of a
    wide range of performance styles for stage and microphone;
  5. the refined physical expression of characterisation in
    performance.
