Synopsis

Knowledge  of  the structure, conduct and performance of national  and
multinational industries is vitally important for economic development
and the successful operation of business enterprises. Students seeking
careers  in  business, education, government and economic  consultancy
need  an understanding of industry structure and operation as well  as
an  ability  to  undertake industry analysis. This unit uses  selected
microeconomic theory to analyse contemporary industries, both domestic
and  global,  and  to  develop skills required in  industry  analysis.
Emphasis  is  placed  on the development of a sound  understanding  of
contemporary  industries  and  of  microeconomic  principles  in   the
analysis of those industries.
