Synopsis

This unit complements earlier economic studies. It emphasises the role
of economic theory in the design, choice and implementation of
development policies and draws from other areas of economics including
growth economics, labour economics, public finance and public choice
in an exploration of Australia's development experience since the
1850s. In addition, the nature and role of important economic
institutions are examined. Attention is also placed on the development
objective, development futures and the political-economic nexus.
