Synopsis

Policy is a modern management term for much of the political process.
The study of policy proposals, the policy process and policy outcomes
helps us to understand political change. This unit will give students
some means by which to under- stand and analyse the formulation and
development of policy. Particular attention will be given to social
and welfare policies, as economic, industry and fiscal policy are
covered in other units from the Government and Economic options and
majors. The unit builds on the foundations of theory from Political
Theory (51381) and the knowledge of the political system from
Australian Political Institutions. It is an introduction to applied
politics, that shows the outcome of mixing theory and institution.
