Synopsis

This  unit covers the management of financial institutions (FIs)  with
the  application of modern finance theory and techniques for  decision
making   in  the  Australian  prudential  supervision  and  regulatory
environment.  Emphasis is placed on measuring  and  managing  risk  in
terms   of   risk   return  trade-off.  In  addition,  asset-liability
management,  off  balance sheet banking, investment  management,  loan
portfolio  management,  liability and  liquidity  management,  capital
management and strategic planning for FIs in the same environment will
be  discussed  for  performance analysis  of  the  financial  services
industry in the Australian context.
