Synopsis


This unit introduces students to the theory and practice of laboratory and
field technologies relevant to biological disciplines.  Initially the course
will provide instruction in the use of laboratory instrumentation and methods
of collecting, analysing and reporting scientific information.  Students will
then be set an investigative task and be required to resolve problems using
the available analytical techniques.  Instruction will include practice in
technical report writing as well as exposure to relevant safety issues.
