Ecology is the study of living things in their natural environment. This unit focuses on the ecology of populations and ecosystems. Insights to -autecology (ie. of the individual), community and behavioural ecology are given also. Practicals include a laboratory study of the population dynamics of the grain beetle, a study of seashore, forest/woodland and freshwater communities and local field studies of cormorant prey selection, agro-ecosystems, weeds, soils and techniques of vegetation survey.
