Synopsis
This unit presents the fundamentals of not only the nature and
structure of the earth but also the processes which have produced and
continued to modify the interior and surface of our planet.
Weathering, soil formation, erosion, deposition and volcanism and
their driving force - tectonism - will be some of the processes
discussed. The intermediate and end products of these processes are
recorded as minerals and rocks, and an introduction to their
identification will also be included. Knowledge and skills developed
in this unit represent a necessary basis for higher level earth science
units.
