Synopsis

This unit explains social structure and socialization from the vantage
point of mainstream sociology theories. It focuses on social
structures from a historical perspective and considers the promotion
of appropriate socialisation opportunities in modern social settings.
Individual and organisational differences and social issues will be
considered to prepare educators to be better informed social leaders
and decision makers.

The social responsibilities of classroom teachers will be considered.
The processes of reviewing available literature, theory formulation
and evaluation, concept formation and discretionary decision making
will be considered in response to the need for social order and the
inevitability of social change.
