Synopsis

This  unit  develops an understanding of, and practice in, design  for
the  theatre. Students will be introduced to the history,  theory  and
practice  of stage design and the role of the designer in professional
theatre.  Practical skills undertaken include use  of  a  scale  rule,
elementary technical drawing and design rendering, drawing and reading
a ground plan and working drawings, elementary set model construction,
and a study of the effects of light on forms in space.
