This unit is a supervised research project which provides opportunities for motivated and highly qualified students to undertake advanced study and to produce a research-based dissertation. Students develop the appropriate research skills and specialist area knowledge which will enhance their career prospects or allow them to undertake further studies. The emphasis of the course will be on developing the appropriate knowledge and skills to undertake independent research and professional practice.
This is the second of two units that contribute to the MSc dissertation. The unit will consist of continuation of the research project started in Biology Masters Project A. Data acquisition and analysis will be completed and a dissertation prepared for examination.

Procedures associated with the assessment of this unit will be consistent with those contained in Sections 4.4.1, 4.6 and 4.6.1 of the University Calendar. Presentation, at a satisfactory standard, of at least one seminar reporting on their project work is a necessary requirement for students to gain passing grades in this unit.
