Synopsis

Workplace Relations examines industrial relations on three levels. The
first consists of theories and themes in industrial relations such as
conflict and its resolution, unitarism and pluralism, individualism
and collectivism, equity and ethics, employment security and
insecurity. The second deals with strategies applied by the industrial
relations parties, including bargaining, management strategies,
consultation and employee participation. The third covers the
institutions, systems and laws within which industrial relations
operates. Within this layer, students will become familiar with the
Australian system and that found in some of the Asian and South-east
Asian region.
