Workplace Relations examines industrial relations on three levels. The first consists of theories and themes in industrial relations such as conflict and its resolution, unitarism and pluralism, individualism and collectivism, equity and ethics, employment security and insecurity. The second deals with strategies applied by the industrial relations parties, including bargaining, management strategies, consultation and employee participation. The third covers the institutions, systems and laws within which industrial relations operates. Within this layer, students will become familiar with the Australian system and that found in some of the Asian and South-east Asian region.
