Synopsis

This unit is concerned with the management of health and safety in the
workplace. The unit addresses theoretical perspectives on occupational
health and safety, the relevant legislation and management strategy
for the attainment of health and productivity in the workplace. The
issues section of the course includes investigation of aspects of work
which have the potential to undermine health and/or safety. The themes
here are noise, shiftwork and stress. The contribution that ergonomics
can make towards minimising risk and hazards, and the importance of
occupational rehabilitation further illustrate the diversity of
content in this unit.
