Synopsis

This  unit  is  part  of the Government major, and  the  Politics  and
Environmental Studies options. The unit first introduces  students  to
the  main  points  of  view  involved in the  debate  about  balancing
development  and conservation. Then these positions are  discussed  in
relation to the physical development of Australia. Students will learn
about the analytical tools used in assessing environmental impact  and
how  these  are  applied,  by considering  case  studies  and  current
environmental issues.
