Synopsis

This  unit  focuses  on  primary school  health  education  and  human
relationships education. Students will examine the nine Main Ideas  in
the  Queensland  Health Education Curriculum Guide and  the  five  key
elements  of  HRE. Students will gain an understanding  of  curriculum
development  in  health  education as well as  current  approaches  to
health  teaching  in  primary schools. They  will  examine  the  Human
Relationships  Education Policy and Guidelines Statement  and  discuss
its   implications  for  schools  and  communities.  Increased   self-
awareness and personal growth will help students understand themselves
and  their  relationships with others as well as develop personal  and
professional skills to enhance their teaching effectiveness.
