Synopsis

This  unit, the first of three dealing with pedagogics, the  study  of
teaching,  seeks to assist student teachers to begin to develop  sound
and personally meaningful theoretical bases for guiding their work  as
teachers  in  classrooms.  Areas  of  study  will  include:  teachers'
knowledge  of students, sources and means of acquiring such knowledge,
and  its significance in planning and teaching; instructional planning
and   the   design  of  learning  experiences  and  environment;   and
communication in the classroom. There will be a particular emphasis on
the  development  of  basic  skills  in  planning,  communicating  and
managing.
