Agricultural and Environmental Engineers require a practical understanding of the operation of agricultural enterprises and the environmental constraints and impacts associated with rural industries. This residential school will provide students with an introduction to natural resource management issues faced by a variety of rural enterprises. In particular, commercial examples will be presented to highlight the physical, economic and social constraints to land use and agricultural production, the processes of land degradation and the principles of property management planning and sustainable land management.

1 Attendance at a minimum of 80% of practical and/or residential
school sessions is compulsory for a passing grade to be awarded
in this unit.
2 Students must achieve a minimum of 50% for each of the
assessments in order to pass this unit;
3 The only final grades awarded in this unit are Pass (P) or Fail
(F) grades.
4 If students submit assignments after the due date without prior
approval then a penalty of up to 20% of the assignment total
marks will apply for each working day late.
5 The Faculty of Engineering and Surveying will NOT accept
submission of hand written or typed assignments by facsimile,
email or computer diskette. Students in remote locations who do
not have regular access to postal services may be given special
consideration.
6 In the event that a due date for an assignment falls on a local
public holiday in their area, such as a Show holiday, the due
date for the assignment will be the next day. Students are to
note on the assignment cover the date of the public holiday for
the Unit Leader's convenience.
7 A minimum standard of communication skills must be demonstrated
in order for a passing grade to be achieved.
