RATIONALE:

A Master degree program should include the opportunity for students to identify an issue relevant to their specialisation, conceptualise and carry out research on the issue, and communicate about it in written and oral form.


SYNOPSIS:

This unit provides the opportunity for students to prepare a dissertation on a specific aspect of teaching.


OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able
to:

  1. demonstrate the ablity to conceptualise, research and
    communicate on a specific topic related to teaching.

TOPICS:

 Description                                                    Weighting(%)
    Dissertation preparation and presentation. This will include reference to: selecting a topic; undertaking a literature review; forming a hypothesis; selecting appropriate research methods; evaluating information; forming conclusions; dissertation writing; oral presentation.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

1    In  order  to obtain an overall passing grade, a pass is required
     in each item of assessment.
2    Unless  approval  for  late submission has  been  obtained,  late
     assignments  will  be  penalised  at  the  rate  of  10%  of  the
     assignment's mark per working day overdue.  For internal students
     assignments  are  due  by  4.00pm on  the  due  date.   Extension
     requests  must be made in writing no later than 24  hours  before
     the  due  time, and supported by documented evidence, eg  medical
     certificate.
