SYNOPSIS:

This unit is a continuation of studies in technical/production areas of theatre for those students who wish to pursue a career in the live entertainment industry. It provides advanced study, training and experience in the duties, procedures and responsibilities of the Assistant Stage Manager/Theatre Practitioner.


OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able
to:

  1. demonstrate a knowledge of examinable areas of the Assistant
    Stage Manager/Theatre Practitioner;
  2. demonstrate skills in areas assigned to the Assistant Stage
    Manager/Theatre Practitioner.
  3. demonstrate a practical understanding and awareness of
    production and artistic staff interaction.
  4. demonstrate an aptitude to work in a professional theatre
    environment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

1    Students  will  be required to attend no less  than  80%  of  the
     classes held and the missing of more than two consecutive classes
     through  illness  will  require  the  production  of  a  doctor's
     certificate.
2    Assessment is continuous.
3    Special  attention  will  be  paid  to  the  development   of   a
     professional work method approach.
4    Students must successfully pass ALL assessment areas.
5    Students must achieve an overall grade of at least a `C' (Pass).
6    The  final  grade will be based on the total for  all  assessment
     items and will be assigned according to Faculty guidelines.
