Synopsis

The unit includes the study of: solutions of linear and non-linear
equations, numerical interpolation, numerical differentiation and
integration, and the numerical solution of ordinary differential
equations. The programming language MATLAB is introduced and used to
develop these techniques. The second part of the unit is a choice
between further programming in C or further numerical techniques
(including Monte Carlo simulation and analysis of algorithms).
