Synopsis

This  unit  presents  an introduction to the theory  and  practice  of
Communication,   with   particular   application   to   academic   and
professional   settings.  Emphasis  is  placed   on   development   of
transferable  skills  which  are  key  characteristics  of   effective
communicators  in a rapidly changing environment. Students  study  the
processes  involved in tailoring communication for specific audiences.
In  addition, the dimensions of verbal and nonverbal communication are
investigated.   Students   also   develop   an   understanding   group
communication.
