SYNOPSIS:

The unit is intended to provide students with a core of basic industrial skills required for the practical applications of Surveying in the workplace. Techniques required in civil construction and mining as well as computer aided civil design will be utilised to complete typical duties as found in industry.


OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able
to:

  1. Undertake techniques and show competence required in
    Construction Surveying.
  2. Undertake techniques and show competence required in Mine
    Surveying.
  3. Undertake techniques and show competence in computer aided
    civil design.
  4. Demonstrate a sound knowledge of Road Design principles and
    the fundamentals of Computer Aided design of roads.
  5. Demonstrate an ability to analyse and propose solutions to
    technical problems in accordance with established practices
    and precedents.
  6. Present surveying results with an acceptable level of written
    and oral communication skills

     in this unit.
2    The  only final grades awarded in this unit are Pass (P) or  Fail

3    A  minimum  standard of communication skills must be demonstrated
     in order for a passing grade to be achieved.
