Synopsis
The four credit point dissertation will focus on the workplace of the
student. It will involve applying theory and practical experience from
the coursework to a specific workplace research problem. It is
expected that students will choose either an `action research' or
classical' approach to their dissertation. `Action research' is best
described as a detailed, `one-shot' case study from which principles
for policy are derived. Such research would require a detailed record
of field work together with a dissertation paper. `Classical' research
would follow the more usual pattern of higher degree research and
would require a dissertation that advanced theoretical or empirical
knowledge modestly.
