Synopsis

In  this unit students will come to an understanding of the scientific
process. A wide variety of curricula and strategies, that will advance
science  education  in  primary schools, will  be  researched  through
independent  and  collaborative study. Leadership  skills  in  science
education  will  be  promoted  together with  an  ability  to  analyse
critically the literature on science education methodologies. Problem-
solving  skills  will  be advocated in the unit  and  an  attitude  to
science  that  incorporates honesty, open-mindedness  and  information
sharing  will  be  promoted. Studies in this unit  will  confirm  that
effective  science teaching plays a significant role  in  the  overall
development  of  children  including their  independent  thinking  and
autonomy.
