Synopsis

This unit seeks to provide learning opportunities which will require
student teachers to interact with content related to the instructional
and management roles of teachers in classrooms. The substantive base
of these learning opportunities will be drawn from classroom
management, models of teaching, the generic skills of teaching
relevant to such models, studies of classrooms as task environments
from an information processing perspective, and teacher thinking. In
the design of learning opportunities, there will be a strong emphasis
on a constructivist role for student teachers and on the importance of
such high level processes as conceptualising, theory building,
inquiry, evaluation and reflection. Professional Experience will be a
component of this unit.
