SYNOPSIS:

This is the fourth unit in which students develop concepts, skills and techniques through their involvement in one or more studio areas. Lectures, demonstrations and workshops in Curatorial Studies, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Sculpture and Textiles will be conducted each week. Studio practice will be underpinned by the history and theory component of this course.


OBJECTIVES:

On successful completion of this unit students will have
demonstrated a sufficiently high level of technical,
conceptual and theoretical maturity and self expression in
their chosen discipline(s) to be able to confidently enter the
final practical units of the course.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

1    Students  must attend a minimum of 80% of practical  classes  and
     lectures  in  order  to be eligible for a pass  in  the  unit.  A
     medical  certificate must be presented if attendance drops  below
     80%.
2    Students must pass all assessment requirements. At this stage  of
     the course only a graded pass or an F will be granted.
3    End  of  semester assessment will be by a panel  of  Visual  Arts
     staff.  All  marks  will be averaged during  moderation  and  the
     result expressed as HD, A, B, C or F according to USQ guidelines.
4    ASSESSMENT DETAILS: DESCRIPTION: Submission and display of a body
     of  work with appropriate documentation in a designated space  as
     requested by staff.
5    STUDENT  WORKLOAD  REQUIREMENTS: Laboratory or Practical  Classes
     including  Lectures 78 hours; Private Study  83  hours;  Other  4
     hours.
