Pre-requisite: Completion of UNIPREP or equivalent.

Synopsis

Students  will practice explaining the technical aspects  of  computer
systems  and  their  role  within the wider  spectrum  of  information
systems in the course Introduction to Computing.  The Introduction  to
Computing  topics are exposed to student analysis and  explanation  in
written  and  spoken  forms.   The  course  will  explore  fundamental
concepts  including  describing how to  use  hardware  and  to  select
appropriate  software;  how to input data and information,  store  and
retrieve  it, and includes practice dealing with programming languages
and application packages.  As well, the course emphasises accurate use
of  the  language associated with providing computer support within  a
variety  of  workplace  and social situations, along  with  presenting
computer-based solutions to selected tasks.
