Synopsis

This  unit  provides an introduction to the methodology of  scientific
research.  The  focus  will be on issues such as:  forms  of  inquiry,
problem    formulation,   theory   construction,   research   designs,
measurement, data analysis and validity. Students will be  assumed  to
have a basic understanding of statistics.

The  subject  is directed at honours students who wish to learn  about
designing and conducting research in the disciplines represented in  a
Faculty  of  Commerce.  Students  will  be  expected  to  develop   an
understanding of the key components of the research process and how to
handle   and  avoid  methodology  problems  commonly  encountered   in
research.
