Synopsis

This  unit has three distinct parts. Firstly, students will be exposed
to  the  legal  framework within which the insurance markets  operate;
secondly,  the  characteristics of, the participants  within  and  the
operation of the insurance markets will be examined. Thirdly,  general
and  life  insurance products will be discussed in terms  of  standard
wordings,  special  meanings, claims, taxation,  premiums  and  rating
issues and product development.
