Synopsis

The  unit examines the following: The identification of all activities
necessary to carry out the project and the relationship between  those
activities;  The preparation of networks to display the project  logic
necessary  to  achieve  completion  in  the  most  effective   manner;
Preparation of realistic estimates for the duration of activities; The
preparation of a schedule to calculate the likely completion dates  of
critical  milestones; The identification of critical activities  where
major resources should be concentrated; The identification of schedule
variances  and  the controls necessary to ensure a timely  completion;
Identification  of resources (people, materials, equipment  etc)  that
are  necessary to carry out the project so that resource planning  can
be  carried  out; Preparation of estimates of cost of those  resources
identified;  Preparation of a project budget  for  approval  and  cost
monitoring  monitoring  of cost variances and implementation  of  cost
control  measures  to  ensure completion within the  approved  budget;
Quality  planning through identification of quality standards required
for  the  project and setting up processes so that they are  achieved;
Quality  assurance  through evaluation of project  performance  during
execution of the works; Quality control through monitoring of variance
in  project  deliverables;   and  Implementation  of  quality  control
measures  to ensure that the completed project satisfies the sponsor's
expectations
