Synopsis

This unit introduces students to the theory and practice of laboratory
and field technologies relevant to biological disciplines. Initially
the unit will provide instruction in the use of laboratory
instrumentation and methods of collecting, analysing and reporting
scientific information. Students will then be set an investigative
task and be required to resolve problems using the available
analytical techniques. Instruction will include practice in technical
report writing and science communication as well as exposure to
relevant safety issues.
