Synopsis

This unit explores the role of philosophical thought and the
significance of its influence on the visual arts. Theories of art and
aesthetics from early Greece provide a foundation for the further
introduction of the ideas suggested by the key philosophers of the
great ages of human development from the middle ages through to the
present.
