Wheel Chair Modification: Top of Page

Staff at Clifford Park Special School Toowoomba asked us to modify a wheel chair for a student with Cerebral Palsy and just the use of one arm our prototype shown below was developed and constructed in our workshops. Test. indicated the design would work, it was then shown to the staff at the school for feed back we were asked if we could construct the drive mechanism so the wheel chair could fold up.

The students chair was different to the chair we had to work with initially, some change had to be made. The system release with just two thumbscrews and small grooves were added to the rollers for added friction.  When engaged both wheels turn at the same rate-allowing drive in a straight line when disengaged the student is able to turn again

Above

This is a cane cutter simulator used to improve the design of cutting blades used in the sugar industry.

Below is a chute that was constructed in our workshops combined with a fan arrangement to sort sugar cane from the trash in the field the trash is used by the mill to generate power and stem for its operation and sale back to the grid. The team conducting the research trailed two Different Systems.
