Bitumen Sprayers

Left: A Bitumen Sprayer

The unit consists of a truck mounted tank,
facilities for heating the bitumen, and a
spraying apparatus mounted at the rear
of the vehicle. In this picture the spray
bar is folded up for travelling purposes.

Right: Spraying bitumen with a hand
sprayer.

A hose attached to the pump unit on the
sprayer enables the operator to spray
small and odd shaped areas with a hand
lance or wand.

Left: A modern spray unit.

Modern spray units are designed for one
operator functioning, with all tasks being
performed from the truck cabin during
spraying.

Right: Use of dual spraybars.

The unit shown above is fitted with dual
spraybars which enables the rate of
bitumen sprayed to be varied laterally
across the width of spraying.
